The existing £7bn Construction Framework (CF21) of 23 firms is set to expire in November 2025.
This will be replaced with a new construction framework estimated to be worth over £15bn based on a six-year term with the option to extend for a further two years.
It will be the first industry mega framework to be tendered under new Procurement Act procedures.
The DfE is working on a more collaborative approach designed to speed up the delivery of projects under the delayed School Rebuilding Programme.
The proposed alliance framework is likely to be based on the Ministry of Justice’s collaborative £1bn New Prisons Programme Alliance framework.
Details of the planned procurement will be set out on Monday 10 March through a online event on Microsoft Teams.
A formal DfE invitation to tender will be issued on 24 March.
